Gastroenterology Articles and Videos
Articles on the digestive system
This page brings together articles and case reports from everyday practice in gastroenterology and interventional endoscopy.
Most of the English posts are case presentations from therapeutic endoscopy, each with a video of the procedure. They cover:
- submucosal dissection (ESD) in the esophagus, the stomach and the rectum
- the removal of pedunculated polyps by mucosal resection (EMR)
- ampullectomy of a papillary adenoma
- the treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum
A second group deals with the pancreas: tissue sampling under endoscopic ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound for the assessment of cysts and neuroendocrine tumors. Two further posts are about training courses: a four-day course held together with Greek scientific societies and the annual course in advanced endoscopy with Japanese and Greek endoscopists.
The Greek version of the blog has more articles, including texts on common symptoms and on preparing for a colonoscopy, which are not available in English.
For an overview by condition, such as colorectal cancer, liver cirrhosis or gallstones, see areas of expertise. The available examinations and procedures, including colonoscopy, are described under endoscopy.
